a list of locations visit https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/locations.html

You will need the following documents at the Driver License Station:
-
Proof of United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (certified birth certificate or valid U.S. Passport). For a complete list visit https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/safety/driver-services/dlcitizen.html
-
Certificate showing you have completed an eight (8) hour Handgun Safety Course at an approved school. Certificate will only be necessary if the school you attended did not enter your passing score online.
-
Payment in cash, credit card, money order or certified check. (We do not accept personal checks for an original handgun permit application.) For information on fees please visit https://www.tn.gov/safety/tnhp/handgun/permitfees.html
-
You must have your picture taken and your electronic signature captured.
Once the application process is complete, the examiner will provide written instructions on fingerprint registration. You may either register online or by telephone; when registering you will be required to schedule your appointment time and location.
You must be fingerprinted after your visit to the driver license station, even if you have been fingerprinted in the past and have top level security clearance. The cost of the fingerprints is included in the permit fee.
After your fingerprints have been submitted, you simply wait for your permit to arrive in the mail. Please allow the State at least thirty (30) days before you check on the status of your application.
Do not carry a handgun on your person until your permit is in your possession. It is your responsibility to keep your address current with the Department of Safety and Homeland Security. Renewal notices are mailed as a courtesy; however, you are responsible for renewal before your permit expires.

A permit to carry a handgun is not a license to use deadly force. With a permit to carry a handgun comes an awesome responsibility. You are legally and financially responsible for the bullet and the damage it causes.
**If you have a current real ID you may complete the above process online without visiting a Driver's License Station.**
