Unarmed Security Training

Tennessee minimum  requirement is 4 hours of classroom training for unarmed security officers. At  A.P.P.S. we believe that 4 hours is not enough time to properly certify unarmed security officers to protect the officer, security company and the property they are hired to protect.  A.P.P.S. goes over and beyond state requirements with a nine hour minimum certification class that is far more in depth than any other training given by any  other training companies or instructor/trainers.

Cost includes fingerprints, pictures, notarizing the application for the officer to turn in to the state or their company.

Armed Security Training

Tennessee minimum requirements are twelve hours for armed security officers (in addition to the required unarmed training) and four hours for renewal of armed security officers every two years. We will NEVER do only four hours of training for civil reasons.  At  A.P.P.S. we believe that twelve hours is not enough time to properly certify armed security officers to protect you and your property.  A.P.P.S. goes over and beyond state requirements with sixteen hours plus this is far more in depth than any other training given by other training companies or instructor/trainers.  A.P.P.S. courses only require fifty rounds to certify because  A.P.P.S. instructors work very close with each student long before they go live on the range. If the student requires more, A.P.P.S. will work with each person to improve their scores. It is a lot more to firing a firearm in self defense than just going to the range and shooting at a target that is not putting you in danger and then leaving. At  A.P.P.S. we teach survival and NOT target shooting. If a student goes to the range and fires a lot of rounds and they do not learn the proper tactics then they have only learned to fire a lot of rounds improperly.

*Please Note:  If you are a new armed security officer you must complete the unarmed training within fifteen days of hire /state application with your company and the armed security certification must be completed as soon as possible!

The cost does NOT include ammo and if you bring your own ammo it MUST be approved by the  A.P.P.S. staff before it can be used on the range.

NO RELOADS/REMANUFACTURED AMMO ALLOWED!

Armed Security Firing Range Training (Revolver and Auto-Loader)

Picture
It is so much difference in the semi-autos and the revolvers that the  A.P.P.S. staff will take the time to work with each and every security officer until they are comfortable with their handgun. Some will even realize that the firearm they are carrying is not the firearm they need for self defense.

With semi-autos we encourage each officer to shoot and know the problems with their particular firearm. Each semi has problems of their own and some are very unique to the gun they have. A.P.P.S. instructors try to point out these problems to the students so they will understand that the semis require more training and care than any other type handgun. If the officer is going to carry a semi-auto we will encourage them to go to the range and fire as much as they can and then work with the firearm under stress fire conditions to see if it will hold up to their expectations. It is a big difference target shooting with a semi-auto than it is shooting under stress when someone is trying to cut your head off, put it on a stick and dance around it.

The three firearms we suggest that give less problems than any others are. Revolvers, revolvers and a revolver, they are simple and idiot proof. (Ever think what most law enforcement and security officers carry as a back up). Training with a revolver is not as in-depth as it is with the semi-auto, but it can still be a problem if the student does not properly train with any and all equipment they are going to carry.

*Please Note: Under Tennessee Law, each Armed Security Officer MUST qualify/ certify with each firearm they are going to carry while on duty. This means by make, model, and caliber.
